Re: (...)
has anyone tried slicing their bacon (slab or homemade) on their mandoline? I'm trying to get around buying a meat sliccer, 'cause if I do, it's not going to be another Mickey Mouse one.

Yes and it's a no go
Unless the slab is short and narrow. If your slab would make anything longer than a 4" slice it's not easy. It's why I have a slicer and a mandolin.

Jean, you know Cis has your number!
Denise, I don't have a mandoline...yet...but I was thinking the product is too "limber", for lack of a better word, to work. I was thinking it would slip and slide too bad. But now that I think about it...what if you partially froze it? Do you think that would help? (But see original comment...you know you want one, Jean!)

One word for you - slicer! It's the easiest way to slice the bacon. The mandoline just doesn't quite do it. A big knife works but not great.
Got to get some pork bellies and get some bacon made - we're out!
