Beef Short Ribs

YEA!!! I FINALLY FOUND IT!
I have been looking and looking for this recipe. I knew it was in a book I had checked out from the Library. But could not rember which one. I have been re-checking out all the cookbooks I have previously checke out over the last year and a half. I finally found it. Thought I'd share it. It is from a freezer cookbook - so adjust directions as necessary. It may not be as good as my quest has me rembering, but at least this way I can find it again! But I think it was good. I cooked them in the crock pot and finished on the grill.

Molasses-Bourbon Short Ribs
Don’t Panic Dinners in the Freezer
6-8 Servings

Molasses-bourbon marinade
½ Cup Bourbon
¼ Cup Molasses
¼ Cup cider vinegar
½ cup water
1 tsp cayenne pepper
½ tsp salt
6-7 beef short ribs, separated into 3-4 slabs

Sauce for barbecuing
2 Tbsp unsalted butter
3 Tbsp. onion, chopped
1 cup Ketchup
2 Tbsp molasses
2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp cider vinegar
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp dry mustard
Pepper to taste

Cooking day instructions
For marinade: Combine marinade ingredients. Trim any excess far from meat. Place ribs in freezer bag; pour marinade over ribs and freeze. For sauce: In medium saucepan, melt butter over low heat, then saute onion in butter until tender. Add remaining sauce ingredients. Bring to a boil, Reduce heat to simmer, cover and cook for 15 minutes. Cool completely. Freeze barbecue sauce separately from ribs, using freezer bag method.

Serving Day Instructions
Taw completely. Precook by placing ribs and marinade in crock-Pot and cooking on low for 5-6 hours or until tender. Ribs may also be precooked on grill by wrapping ribs in foil and cooking over medium, indirect heat for approximately 2 hours or until tender. To precook in oven, place ribs in large baking dish with marinade; cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 ½ - 2 hours or until tender.

Once ribs are tender, brush ribs with barbecue sauce and finish by grilling over medium heat for 20 minutes. Basting with barbecue sauce regularly.

Oh my! Copied here also. While I just said there's not a lot you can improve on with rib sauces, I'll continue to try new ones. I think this one's worth a try...molasses and bourbon...YUM!
