My Birthday Dinner :)

So while the trip was for the purpose of moving our daughter to San Francisco, I was determined to go to the Fog City Diner. (corner of Battery and Embarcadero)

It is a typical diner, but it's been upgraded. This place was great!! The food was fantastic. I mean really really good.

We started with Truffle Fries with Asiago Cheese -

I had the Crab Cakes. Now interesting to note. The crab is was caught that morning. (I had more crab later that night)

Derek had the Red Snapper with Haricot Verts and Sugar Snap Beans.

Laura had the Pan Roasted Salmon and Vegetables.

We ended up just sharing everything. Then dessert. Banana Bread Pudding, with Chocolate Brandy sauce and homemade vanilla bean ice cream. Yes that's a bite out of the side... Derek couldn't wait hehe.

Very fun evening. Made my B-Day worth celebrating again lol

OMG!!!!!! That just looks afreakinmazing! Oh, the truffle fries - those would have been heaven enough for me. We keep talking about taking BART over to the City for a day - of course we'd have to go to Fog City Diner first, otherwise we'd blow the bank account at the Ferry Terminal Building and have nothing left for truffle fries!!
You only live once . . . but if you do it right once should be enough!

Wow, what a great lookin' dinner, Denise! Yes, to truffle fries - I tossed some oven fries with a little truffle oil and truffle salt a while back and it's really delicious. I can imagine how good it would be with "fried" fries!!
But, I didn't add the asiago - time to do again!

What a wonderful birthday dinner, Denise! I would have gotten the crab cakes as well, I order them everywhere I go, it seems.

Great pictures!

Likewise. My benchmarks for various types of restaurants (if any) are as follows:
  • Seafood: Crab Cakes
  • Italian: Veal or Chicken Marsala
  • German: Jägerschnitzel
  • Indian: Lamb or Chicken Vindaloo
  • BBQ: Dry-rub ribs
  • Moroccan: Lamb Tagine
  • Greek: Gyro or Pastitsio
  • Mexican: Chicken Mole, but also the salsa for the chips
  • Chinese: General Tso's Chicken
  • Korean: Bulgogi
  • Hungarian: Veal or Chicken Paprikas
  • Polish: Kielbasa and Pierogi
  • Breakfast: Eggs Benedict
