I cannot get fresh mussels here... I can, however, get them frozen at Walmart. So I've had some in the freezer. I fixed a recipe tonight for steamed mussels...garlic, shallots, thyme, white wine, lemon juice, chix. broth, butter, chopped tomatoes, and fresh parsley. It was really good. I just wonder how much better it would taste with live mussels........ I will never know unless I travel I suppose.

When you travel down to see us with your family Angela, we can play mussells all day long. We were gifted with mussells from the far north a while ago. I cooked, the men ate, but all they could manage was 6-7 each, they were huge. And very fresh. Shane always takes the black prongy thing out, he says it is their sex organs or something. I just steamed them in white wine, and put the creamed sauce and vinegar out. S&P.
