Hi Everyone. I am in search of a recipe for kid friendly Turkey Burgers. Does anyone have a recipe of a moist and flavorful - not spicy - turkey burger?

There's a recipe for Turkey Burgers with BBQ'd Red Onions in Issue 34. It's served with Chipotle Mayonnaise, but you can leave that off for the little ones. Do you have that issue? If not, I can post the recipe if you are interested.

Yes, could you please post it. I am only missing two or three issues and that is one of them.

Turkey Burgers with BBQ’d Red Onions Issue 34

Makes Four 6 oz patties
Total Time: 30 Minutes

COMBINE, SHAPE, AND GRILL:
1 lb ground turkey breast
½ lb ground turkey
1 t. kosher salt
1 t. freshly ground pepper

FOR THE ONIONS—

GRILL:
4 ½”-thick slices red onion
1/4 cup purchased barbecue sauce

TOP THE BURGERS WITH:
Sliced Monterey Jack cheese

TOAST:
4 buttered hamburger buns

SERVE WITH:
Chipotle Mayonnaise, recipe to follow
Sliced Avocado

Preheat grill to medium-high. Clean grates, the oil lightly.

Combine ground turkey meats, salt and pepper in a mixing bowl, tossing gently with your hands. Shape into four ¾” thick patties. Coat patties with nonstick spray before grilling. Grill 4-5 minutes.

Grill onions while burgers cook. Brush onions with barbecue sauce and cook until soft, 8-10 minutes. Turn often, brushing with additional sauce.

Top burgers with cheese after flipping. Grill to 160 degrees, 4-5 more minutes.

Toast buns during the last minute of grilling.

Serve burgers with mayonnaise, onions, and avocado.

CHIPOTLE MAYONNAISE
Makes about ½ cup
Total Time: 10 minutes

BLEND:
½ cup mayonnaise
1 t. sugar
1 small chipotle chile, minced
½ t. adobo (from canned chipotles)
Juice of half a lime

Blend all ingredients together in a small bowl. Let sit for at least 30 minutes before serving so flavors can develop.

Burger Combos:

Flying East: Turkey burger, Cucumbers with Mint Vinaigrette, mango chutney

Ruffled Feather: Turkey burger, brie, prepared cranberry relish

I thought I would share the recipe I came up with tonight for Turkey Burgers. It was good and the kids really liked it. I will try the CAH recipe when Steve is back home. Actually I used about three CAH recipes to guide me on these.

1 pkg Ground Turkey
1/4 cup apple sauce
3 shakes worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup chopped dried cranberries
Garlic Salt
Steak seasoning
Montery Jack or Pepper Jack cheese

Mix together and with garlic salt and steak seasoning to your taste. Grill for 4 to 5 minutes each side. Melt cheese on burgers. My bigger burger took a little longer.

I served mine on a grilled portabello mushroom toped with fresh baby spinach leaves, the burger with pepper jack cheese and sliced avacado. It was yummy. The kids really liked it with regular monterey jack cheese on a bun.

Thanks for all the recipes. That chipotle mayo sounds good!!! This weekend is our Memorial Day, so I'll have lots of time to bbq!
Practice safe lunch. Use a condiment.
