Unbelievable and only 54 years old.

Articla on Chef Trotter

What a fu(king waste of such talent.
Retired and having fun writing cookbooks, tasting wine and sharing recipes with all my friends.

That is sad. I didn't realize he had closed his restaurant. It seems like he went downhill for some reason. Such creativity wasted.

Very sad, but the article was a really nice tribute. He was an amazing chef! He will definitely be missed by many people--his family most of all.

Terribly sad! As I recall Grant Achatz worked for Charlie Trotter when he first got to Chicago, he was considered one of the masters - along with Thomas Keller. Just goes to show that one should not ever give up one's passion!
You only live once . . . but if you do it right once should be enough!
