Ron got his buck...

Just got a text (and picture) from Ron, so we'll have plenty of venison again this year. We're planning to make some sausage from it since we grind quite a bit. I'll post our activities....

Sorry, Daphne, no details yet. He just sent a text that said "got one" and a picture to go with, but the screen on my phone isn't very large, so you can't tell much from it.
I'll have more to share on this later.

The only thing more expensive than venison is duck meat. When I hunted, counting lease, shells, decoys, driving expenses,gear,etc--it came out to around $200/lb.

Yup! And they stay in a motel and eat out all week! Add tp that out of state licenses. But, this is something that Ron and his dad have been doing since Ron was 8 or 10 years old, before he could even get a hunting license. It's their week together and very special to both of them. They actually start talking about it during the summer!

congratulations - "the family eats well this winter" - I remember my mom saying. Quite often my dad got a deer and an elk and the 'locker' (didn't have a freezer in those days) was over-flowing. and, boy did we eat well.
