I feel silly asking this question because it's probably obvious to all of you but: the 2 T coffee - Is that wet coffee from the machine or the dry coffee granuales that you make coffee with?
Cinnamon-Coffee Rub
1 T. ground cinnamon
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 T. coffee
2 cloves garlic -- minced
Mix the above and rub on chicken pcs. Let marinate in frig for 3 hours or overnite.
Grill the chicken over indirect heat (my grill has four burners - two, I set on medium and two are off)
For leg/thigh - turn after 20 min and cook another 20 min. When done, tent for ~10 min.
For thighs - turn every 10 min. took about 40 min.
Kendall-Jackson '05 Zin is delicious with this.

A question I can actually answer, I made this 2 nites ago and have made it several times you use as I call it "left over" coffee, meaning yes "wet coffee" from the pot. Boy oh boy is this recipe really good.

The rub really sounds good to me. The confusion cropped up because I had just been reading about grilling steaks and some of the rubs included the coffee granules.

just to add a p.s. on this - a friend has converted this to a dry rub to use on a dish - and it's great either way -
Jean, I played with the Cinnamon Coffee Rub you sent me... made it a dry rub:
1 Tablespoon Saigon Cinnamon
2 teaspoons cocoa
2 teaspoons Instant Espresso powder
1/3 cup dark brown sugar
2 cloves of garlic, very finely chopped

I do a coffee/cocoa/cinnamon coating on a beef tenderloin--in this one all ingredients are finely ground and dry.

I mix 2T coffee, 1T unsweetened cocoa powder, & 1/8t ground cinnamon. I either rub the meat w olive oil and then rub in the mixture, or I have mixed the rub with 2T olive oil to make a paste and rubbed the meat with the paste.

Great Goop--Robert del Grande does his tenderloin with this at Cafe' Annie in Houston--one of our favorites. I love to make it at home.
