Brunch/Sat 3/13/10 - Old Bay - 03-13-2010 We had bacon/lettuce/mayo sandwiches on whole wheat toast, with leftover (from last nite) buffalato caprese salad on the side. A deconstructed BLT ? We really enjoyed it. We had a South African Sauvignon Blanc--Sebeka--very crisp, a lot of citrus--excellent and different from the NZ or French varieties. Don't overlook South African wines. Re: Brunch/Sat 3/13/10 - luvnit - 03-13-2010 Sounds delightful. Not sure what Buffalato is, but I would probably like it! Re: Brunch/Sat 3/13/10 - Old Bay - 03-13-2010 Quote: It's fresh mozzarella made from water buffalo milk like the original from Italy. We can't get it very often (or afford it either!!). Re: Brunch/Sat 3/13/10 - cjs - 03-13-2010 AND did you add any basil leaves to the BLT???? So good, Bill. We're liking the So African wines we've tried so far. Fun Brunch...we haven't had one for a while, darn. Re: Brunch/Sat 3/13/10 - Old Bay - 03-13-2010 The fresh basil was in the leftover caprese salad-- a little wilted, but good!! Re: Brunch/Sat 3/13/10 - Gourmet_Mom - 03-13-2010 Very nice, Bill. You are so lucky to get the buffalo mozz ANY time. I'm lucky to get plain ol' fresh. Re: Brunch/Sat 3/13/10 - pjcooks - 03-13-2010 Sounds great! Buffalo mozz is a rarity around here, I've only had it twice in restaurants, and have never seen it in stores. When my tomatoes and basil come in this summer, I may have to hunt down a source online. PJ Re: Brunch/Sat 3/13/10 - Gourmet_Mom - 03-13-2010 I'm with you PJ. While Caprese Salad is a summer favorite around here, I sure would like to try it with Buffalo mozz. Re: Brunch/Sat 3/13/10 - Old Bay - 03-13-2010 Quote: We found this batch at Costco--reasonable. |
