Another ice cream to try - labradors - 09-06-2009

This was mentioned on yesterday's Chef on a Shoestring, and sounded interesting:

Cinnamon Tabasco Ice Cream

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon Arrowroot
1/4 teaspoon Sea salt
4 egg yolks
2 teaspoon pure vanilla
2 cups heavy cream
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon Tabasco

Combine all ingredients and freeze according to the directions included with your ice cream maker, or purchase vanilla bean ice cream, blend in cinnamon and Tabasco, refreeze.

Note that I have corrected an error that was on the original site. There, the cinnamon was not in the ingredient list, but vanilla was listed twice (in different quantities). It's pretty obvious, given the rest of the recipe, and the title, that the second mention of vanilla should really be cinnamon, so I have changed it in my quoting of the recipe, above.

Oh yum - that sounds really good. I can see a big ol' scoop of that on the apple jalapeno pie! Slurp.

I still can't wrap my brain around hot stuff with sweet. We're not that big on hot stuff anyway. Looks interesting, though.
