New Ham Cookbook - Lorraine - 02-12-2009

I was going through one of his old Virginia cookbooks, and they mentioned several other local cookbooks. One was "The Ham Cookbook" by M / R Harrell published in 1977. As ham is one of his favourite foods, I ordered it ($1.00 online). I had the feeling it was going to be a good book when I read the intro: "My interest in collecting ham recipes first began when I married Robert Harrell, whose family has been in the Virginia ham business since 1898". We're already earmarked lots of recipes we want to try. Given the big leftover ham in the fridge, it will probably be soon.

For anyone who might be interested, this is a pretty cool website that has over 2600 cookbooks, ranging in price from less than a dollar to over $1,000, and some are very, very old. On the travel channel's "No Reservations" Anthony Bourdain visited Zubal's when he was in Cleveland. It's pretty amazing.

I bet there is a recipe for ground ham sandwich filling in it - when I was a kid, that was one of my favorite sandwiches. (had sweet pickles in it)
