A Different Sauce for Pizza - cjs - 06-01-2016

This is a really neat idea – I pureed approx. 2/3 cup baked beans with enough spicy BBQ to make a spreadable sauce for a pizza.

Spread it and topped with –
Mimolette Jeune cheese (from our monthly cheese club shipment – “Young Mimolette is a semi-hard cheese that has the same texture and spherical shape as Dutch Edam”)Next time I’ll use an Edam cheese
Mozzarella
Rib meat
Red onion
Drizzle of olive oil
Nice sprinkle of red pepper flakes

The sauce really added a nice balance of flavors to the pizza. Will be doing this again.

I'll certainly be doing this again!!

Who knew? I never would have thought of this, but it sounds good and makes sense. Sort of reminds me of a Mexican pizza, without the BBQ sauce of course.

I have thinned out refried beans with taco sauce for a Mexican pizza sauce, but had never thought of doing this before.

That's why you are an Iron Chef. Looks like a winner to me. I love beans!
