Homecoming Help - Gourmet_Mom - 10-12-2012

Sunday is Homecoming at my church. I would like to do a great dish, but one that could be prepared tomorrow. I've done the Eight Layer Lasagna and the Pasta Cobb salad that I remember. I have served the New York Cheesecake to part of the group. Any killer ideas? Help!

A great big pot of jambalaya, Daphne.

Can't get the fresh shrimp. Although, the frozen is on sale this week......

And the idea of something I can make ahead, like a soup or stew that could warm in the crockpot is a great idea! The clam chowder!!!!!!

Clam chowder sounds good. Have you looked thru the Soups, Stews & Chili book (C@H) - there are so many in there that we love -
Supreme pizza soup
Cincinnati chili
Ropa vieja stew
so many....

Minestrone soup is great---the flavors develop overnight and are pretty tasty.......bring along some bruschettas with a mild garlic or pesto sauce.

Sausage minestra is great also---a little more finicky though.

GOOD LUCK and have fun---whatever you bring along, I'm sure will be awesome

Pulled Pork? Beouf Bourguignon?

They pointed out that soup would require bowls so I'm going with lasagna.

Re: Homecoming Help - labradors - 10-13-2012

Pffft! What's the difference between needing bowls versus plates? In that case, just give them something on a stick! LOL!

Let 'em eat cake..............out of their hands.

We use real silverware and dishes. Since I'll be helping with the dishes, I decided not to do soup. LOL!
