Pork Belly Reuben - Old Bay - 03-05-2011 I saw this on Travel Channel--somewhere in Maine--- Grill pork belly slices Grill slices of rye bread on same griddle to use grease Stack caramelized onion on meat Stack meat/onion on a slice of the bread Cover with sliced cheddar cheese Top with 2nd slice of bread Turn to melt the cheese I did not see that they added a dressing. I'm not used to pork belly--it looked and sounded good-What do you think Jean? Re: Pork Belly Reuben - BarbaraS - 03-05-2011 Oh man! And Whole Foods has Pork Bellies on sale! Barbara Re: Pork Belly Reuben - Harborwitch - 03-05-2011 Oh geeze Bill!!! OMG!!! This sounds so good. I hope we can get pork belly where we're going. Re: Pork Belly Reuben - Gourmet_Mom - 03-05-2011 Okay, it took some searching, but I finally found this: Pork Belly Reuben Video Re: Pork Belly Reuben - cjs - 03-05-2011 I'm on it, Bill - have pork belly in the freezer!!! sounds really good. Good Lord - off to get a belly out of the freezer!!!! Glad you found this one, Daphne! And thank you Bill. (will I ever get back to the carb lovers regime???????????) Re: Pork Belly Reuben - Old Bay - 03-05-2011 Quote: Daphne, the one I saw was on Travel Channel and hosted by some guy who is the ultimate carnivore--it was in a grill in Maine--this one looks good too. The one I saw did not have a panini press and I don't recall a sauce. Maybe we can play with them and consider a fusion. Re: Pork Belly Reuben - Gourmet_Mom - 03-05-2011 I found the one you were talking about, but they didn't tell how they made it in the link I found. But what you described didn't make sense as a Reuben...no 'kraut or dressing? I found another mention of a similar sandwich with an apple 'kraut on it. Wait, here's a review of the place that was featured, I think...Nosh? And there's a picture of the sammie with a description. Nosh Okay, better yet...here's this one: Nosh on the Travel Channel Video Bill, you were right...no 'kraut. Re: Pork Belly Reuben - Old Bay - 03-05-2011 Quote: Absolutely a Faux Reuben. Pork belly instead of corned beef and onions instead of kraut. I didn't see any dressing. Interesting. Re: Pork Belly Reuben - Gourmet_Mom - 03-05-2011 Bill, look up. I found the actual video. Re: Pork Belly Reuben - Old Bay - 03-05-2011 That last one is it--they do put a dressing on it!! Thereis no sound on my video. Can you tell what the dressing is? |
